Each cabinet is crafted from real wood using time-honored carpentry techniques to ensure that the finished product is as durable as it is beautiful.

Custom Cabinets vs. Retail Chain Cabinetry

Custom Cabinets

Retail Chain Cabinetry

Materials

  • Materials are 3/4 inch solid wood and cabinet grad plywood.
  • Backs are cabinet grade plywood glued and screwed whenever possible.
  • Standard cabinets are veneered particle board of 1/2 inches to 3/4 inches as the main carcass construction.
  • Backs are made of lightweight hardboard usually 1/8 inches thick.

Assembly and Joints

  • Glue is spread on every joint.
  • Staples are rarely used.
  • Pocket hole and biscuit joints with glue construction are most commonly used.
  • Very little glue, if any used
  • Staples are used to hold the entire particleboard carcass together.
  • Back cleats are screwed into particleboard. (Remember, this is what holds the 100-200 lbs of the cabinet filled with dishes to the wall.)

Customization Possibilities

Customization choices are almost unlimited and are built into the price.

Custom requests result in extra fees or are rejected as not possible.

Hardware

Our basic hardware is considered high end or the best available in retail cabinetry.

Poor or average quality handles, knobs, hinges, etc.

Assembly Process

Built one at a time with care and attention to detail for best quality construction.

Manufactured by persons in an assembly line who are compensated by how many units can be made, not upon quality construction.

Design Process

Work with one person who handles the project in its entirety all the way through to completion.

Work with a new person for each part of the process—someone for design, someone for sales, someone for installation, etc.

Warranty

Lifetime warranty against defects in craftsmanship.

Often limited to just a few years, if one is offered at all.

How We Work

Whenever possible, we will meet with you in person, by telephone or over the Internet to gain a better understanding of your design concept and how you plan to use it. From this, we create a custom furniture design.

Shipping

Whenever possible we try to deliver your pieces to you personally to avoid shipping damage that “WILL” occur when shipping with a major carrier. If out of our area we will work out any questions that you may have. You are also welcome to pick up your order in person.

Whether you are replacing, re-facing, adding to or starting from scratch, find out how custom cabinets can create your dream kitchen, office or other area! Contact us for an assessment of your custom cabinet needs.
